Nothing says Merry Christmas more than underwear and socks...
... fortunately I was spared this year... my younger brother however, was given GAP boxers AND a 6-pack of sports socks... all with price tags still attached...
... my mother has a different tradition with me. Instead of underwear/socks, which she fully knows I can purchase myself (and would rather do that myself, thank you very much)... she gives me pajamas. Without fail. Last year I got a pair of satiny ones which were too big or too small, or too satiny, they had to be returned. This year I got pajama bottoms. No top to match, just Old Navy "Just Bottoms" fleecy pants. They are comfy. Simon also got a pair of pajama bottoms... I wonder what message she is trying to send.
Oh I also got hair products (shampoo/conditioner) as per usual from my mom, as well as a brand spanking new briefcase/handbag from Simon. Oh and cash for the Belize trip was an early gift as well. Came in rather handy, actually! I have a couple more gifts to open but I haven't received them yet...
Today we met up with Scott for lunch before he heads back to TO; then we dropped off our film to be processed and printed: 370 digital pics (out of about 600 taken) plus 13 rolls of film (x 24 exposures). So, a lot of pictures. However, Costco is damn cheap! But quality is TBA. Am also getting 35 mm film scanned to disk so will have those up in a couple of days as well as my trip notes. I was going to work on that tonight but we ended up going to M&T's for their open house, and ended up staying for longer than we planned. Simon had a slide show... it got a little long.
Tomorrow I am back at my new job. They have already scheduled refresher training for me... how thoughtful!

Back From Belize.
First thing this morning, after arriving near 4 AM, caught 4 hours of sleep. After breakfast and present-opening, I HAD to find out what happened with this season's Survivor. As luck would have it, one of the Asians won! Woo hoo! Go Yul!
But I have to say, Ozzy really looks a lot like Jai Rodriguez (QEFTSG/Celebrity Duets) after he's cleaned up.
Trip details to come.

Yes indeedy.
So this last week has been hectic and shall be ongoing for the next few days, at least until Friday, where I will finally be leaving on vacation! Phhew. So to update...
Thursday finished old job. Didn't end up leaving the cartoon on the desktop because it was killing my eyes, I ended up leaving an MS template of tulips. But whenever the new person gets on that computer they'll be able to customize it whichever way they want I suppose.
Friday started new job by taking 3-day corporate weekend to Sun Peaks. On a coach provided by the company I just left! Anyway was interesting and was welcomed by all. We drank a lot. Also there was a lot of food. Friday they had a welcome reception with F&B, Saturday we had a session where they talked about Clarity and the New Deal. (Co. is putting a new intranet/extranet system together for all 3 offices). Was enlightening and gave rather interesting insight into what the co. is about. I'm glad I am joining at this time versus 6 mo. prior or afterwards. So Saturday afternoon we had this teambuilding session where we went snowshoeing! That was a lot of fun. Even the parts where we had to trudge through 4 feet (uphill!) of powder because we missed a turn in the path we were supposed to take... Anywho. Break time, then gathered for Xmas dinner & party... and then headed to the one bar in Sun Peaks called Mackdaddy's.
I like Sun Peaks... I would have rather have liked to stay longer and go snowboarding... they have THREE mountains to take advantage of, and one village in the middle of development. The only thing that ticked me off was the cost of the breakfast buffet - which we didn't pay for indvidually - but $17? They didn't even offer pancakes or an omellette station. I know it's a Delta hotel so on the somewhat high-end... but... well... let's just say, the Fairmont Airport Hotel has an omellette station...
Anywho. Sunday we checked out and had a bit of an adventure just trying to leave the hotel - because of the construction there was really random parking and the bus couldn't drive out... had to back up all the way around the hotel about 200 m before he could finally turn around. There was chatter about how "this is NOT the way you're supposed to transport people" which I don't think was a hit on the driver, rather just an annoyance that this detail (e.g. lack of space to drive through) was overlooked. Ho hum.
Got home Sunday evening. That's pretty much it. Monday AM started training at the new job... woa. Today pretty much the same thing except was told that training didn't have to start until 9:30... so didn't show up until around then... but then later this morning when I checked my e-mails there was a somewhat passive-aggressive e-mail reminding the new hires that we should be at work at normal working hours (8:30-5) regardless of what time training starts/ends. Fair enough. Oops!
Bought travelers' cheques. Still need to get bag cover for backpack, bug spray, and extended insurance. I guess I should also pay my bills for the month as well. Eeek!
That's pretty much it. So much for having time to think about Xmas presents...
